Welcome To Eloma Episode 23: Upgrading Your PR Game with Tamara Edwards
“If you're going to be in front of one select audience, what would you say to that group?” asks Tamara Edwards, CEO and Founder of Tamara Edwards & Co, a full service PR and personal branding agency. Today, she joins host Kiley Peters to discuss what you should do to upgrade your PR game.
Branding is everything in 2022, especially for entrepreneurs. Your personal brand should have cohesive messaging throughout all platforms that work in tandem with your overall goals for your business. It’s no longer as easy as just sending a press release and calling it a day. Tamara recommends working backwards and drawing up a roadmap based on your ultimate PR goals. With the amount of content running 24/7 on social media, it can be very overwhelming to try to get your message out to your target audience and to continue to amplify your earned media afterward. Utilizing the right PR team can be a huge advantage as they will have the necessary connections to get your content published and noticed.
PR is the middle ground between you and your audience and without the right PR, your message will not reach your target audience. Tune into this week’s episode of Welcome to Eloma for a conversation with Tamara Edwards about the importance of messaging, why hiring a PR team may be a good idea, and how to effectively upgrade your PR game.
Highlights:
- “Very simply put, PR is your connection to your audience.” (2:35-2:39 | Tamara)
- “To me PR, especially in 2022, is not just send a press release, get in the news, and then that's it. You need to amplify this story, and this message, and that earned media.” (5:00-5:16 | Tamara)
- “If you're going to be in front of one select audience, what would you say to that group?” (6:33-6:40 | Tamara)
- “Having a roadmap is great. And the thing that we spend the most amount of airtime on the front end is saying what is PR? What does success look like from a PR standpoint? What does it look like from a brand standpoint? What do you want your audience to do with your information? Having those questions in front of you actually unveils very classic brand strategy type formulas of the roadmap that can help get you there.” (29:25-29:56 | Tamara) Audiogram
