Welcome To Eloma EP33 – Exploring Entrepreneurship as a Multipotentialite with Pixie Paula Dezzutti
“Don’t set limits, try to be limitless. And I think the rest will fall into place. But remember, you’re the only one setting the limits or telling yourself the story. So if somebody tells you no, or can’t go along with your vision, try to just tune that out immediately,” shares Pixie Paula Dezzutti, CEO and founder of multiple businesses including Local Choice Spirits, Skirt Magazine, and Striped Pig Distillery. Today, Pixie joins host Kiley Peters to talk about her experience as a multipotentialite.
Pixie felt from a young age that we are the creators of our own lives and that has greatly influenced her own entrepreneurial path. She explains that if everything is an illusion and ultimately meaningless, we are in charge of assigning our own meaning and therefore, can create any life we choose for ourselves. She founded and runs multiple businesses by not following her passion, but instead following her purpose. Pixie suggests really taking the time to determine your own purpose and to dedicate yourself to that, rather than chasing your passions, because passion will rise and fall over time.
When you recognize that the only limits are your own imagination, a world of possibilities opens up. Do not put limits on yourself or allow others to limit your potential. Instead, follow your driving purpose and assign positive meanings to your life.
Highlights:
- “The way we operate and how we are driven as a culture is something that’s been self imposed. I do believe that time is an illusion. So now, it’s not about time management, it’s about your relationship with the management of time.” (6:03-6:21 | Pixie)
- “I think as creative entrepreneurs, we get stuck in our future. We spend so much time visualizing the future that when it doesn’t happen like this, it’s frustrating.” (10:37-10:50 | Pixie)
- “Know your purpose, not your passion. Get so in touch with who you are as a soul being that you can quickly go inside and be able to find your peace to own who you are no matter what the outside circumstance.” (24:12-24:28 | Pixie)
- “If you’re the one that’s picking the meaning, then really, it’s all meaningless. Not one position or another has any real credibility. So don’t make the whole experience be so full of negative meaning that’s negative. Pick the meaning you want to have.” (25:11-25:31 | Pixie)
- “Don’t set limits, try to be limitless and I think the rest will fall into place. But remember, you’re the only one setting the limits or telling yourself the story. So if somebody tells you no, or can’t be along with your vision, try to just tune that out immediately. Don’t create limits for yourself.” (29:02-29:27 | Pixie)
